In
1931, for the first time in Peru, a popular candidate
supported by a group called American Revolutionary
Popular Alliance (APRA) stands for president.
This political leader is called Victor Raul Haya
de la Torre and subsequently has certain victory
taken from him by a military member of the Peruvian
army, in dubious circumstances.
A political persecution of the people - socialists
and "apristes" – follows in the
aftermath. In the end Haya is detained and stands
trial.
