This is the story of the
Orozco Family and it portrays an aspect of Peruvian
social history. The film opens at the time of
slavery, the story moves through the birth of
agro-industrial capitalism and closes with the
birth of the first working class unions in 1919. The film presents the life of one working
class family ; that of Vicente Orozco who started
out an agricultural worker and who 20 years later
became a shoemaker and leader of the worker’s
union.
This was the first Peruvian feature film to be
presented in the Cannes, San Sebastian, Hong-Kong,
Havana, Quebec and Sao Paulo International Film
Festivals..
